Project Overview
Owned by Mr Allan since 2017, the property had been in need of significant modernisation.
"The house needed extensive work throughout when I bought it," Mr Allan explains. "From bathrooms to the windows and doors, almost every room required attention."
For the windows and doors, Richard recommended Mumford & Wood, having specified the brand for numerous projects across Hampshire. Known for blending heritage character with modern performance, Mumford & Wood proved an ideal fit for the project.
"One of the key design considerations was to avoid overusing leaded glass," adds Mr Allan. "The original property had a lot of it, so we were careful to retain a more balanced look with the replacements."
Now complete, the home has been elevated in both comfort and style, retaining its period character while benefiting from the quality craftsmanship of new timber joinery.
Feature French Doors
A stunning focal point of the renovation is a set of timber French doors flanked by flush casement windows. Finished in 'Pure White' with leaded light detailing, the doors provide effortless access to the garden and frame the outdoor view, ideal for both Mr Allan and his four-legged companion.
Flush Casement Windows
Throughout the property, classic timber Flush Casement windows with astragal bar detailing were chosen to enhance the home's traditional feel. All finished in 'Pure White' and paired with polished brass teardrop handles, they deliver a clean, timeless aesthetic.
Entrance Door
To maintain simplicity and let in plenty of natural light, a 'Bolingbroke' Entrance door with a single sidelight was installed in the study. The sleek design, free from astragal or leaded bars, contrasts beautifully with the more decorative elements elsewhere in the home, achieving the understated elegance Mr Allan was after.
