Rural Suffolk Homes Reflect Traditional Craftsmanship
What once stood as a substantial 1950s private residence, surrounded by generous grounds, has been thoughtfully redeveloped into three spacious, high-specification family homes by expert housebuilders, Bury Developments.

Some salespeople disappear after the sale, but that's never been the case with Matt. He's been there at every stage and is still on hand to help us now. That really makes the difference!

Project Overview
Although the original house was once a landmark in its time, it had become dated and would have required extensive upgrades to meet today's standards. Recognising the potential of the land, the team at Bury Developments saw an opportunity to create a small, exclusive community of newly built homes.
"The original property was owned by the son of the first resident," explains Carl Studd of Bury Developments. "He eventually sold it to a self-builder, who then partnered with us to secure planning permission for the three new homes."
Through their local Jewson contact, Carl was introduced to Mumford & Wood. From initial discussions to completion, the level of support remained consistently high.
"Matt visited the site several times, supplied samples, and helped us choose finishes. He was incredibly helpful throughout the project."
The self-builder initially had a preference for 'Swedish-style' windows, but after comparing a sample against one from Mumford & Wood, the superior quality of the latter stood out clearly, leading to a change of plan.
Each of the three completed homes now features its distinct character, brought together by carefully chosen architectural details. The remaining two plots, after the self-builder chose his own home, were snapped up on the very first day of viewings.
Looking ahead, Bury Developments has plans to build a fourth home on the remaining land at the rear of the plot. Carl adds:
"We're also planning a new development of 8–9 homes elsewhere. If the budget allows, we would love to specify Mumford & Wood again. The service has been outstanding."
Feature Entrance Doors
All three plots were fitted with striking Pomeroy-style Entrance doors with sidelights. Finished in 'Reed Green', these doors include full-sized toplights in 'Pure White', creating a bright, airy entrance and a bold sense of arrival.
Flush Casement Windows
Clean-lined Flush Casement windows were selected to maximise natural light. One of the properties, clad in contemporary materials, features windows in 'Anthracite Grey', perfectly complementing the exterior palette. The other two homes showcase classic 'Pure White' windows for a timeless finish.
Additional Entrance Doors
Two of the homes also feature Pomeroy Entrance doors in a rich 'Dark Oak' finish, paired with Satin Stainless Steel Regent handles from the Coastal range. The combination of style and durability reflects the high standard of the development.
Tilt & Turn Window
A practical and stylish Tilt & Turn window was installed in one of the homes, opening onto a Juliet balcony. This European-inspired solution allows the window to open inwards or tilt from the top, ideal for ventilation and safety.
Bi-Fold Doors
To the rear of each home, Bi-fold doors, colour-matched to the windows, create seamless transitions between indoor living areas and generous private gardens. The result is a light-filled, family-friendly space ideal for modern lifestyles.
