Nursery Redeveloped Into Family-Focused Residential Community of 16 Homes

Project Overview

Once restricted to horticultural use, the land became a prime residential opportunity when planning regulations evolved, paving the way for this high-specification development led by local developer Paul Nicholls and his father.

"The land had sat unused for some time. When planning rules changed, it gave us a great opportunity to create something special," explains Paul.

The project was structured in phases, with four homes built at a time. While the properties share a cohesive exterior aesthetic, featuring brickwork, render, and timber beams, each home is uniquely styled to appeal to modern buyers.

"We knew we needed to get every detail right. High-end finishes would not only attract discerning buyers but also ensure we achieved the best possible property values."

When considering windows and doors for the development, Paul quickly ruled out white uPVC.

"We felt uPVC just wouldn't sit right within the overall look we were aiming for. Timber was the clear choice, and the range from Mumford & Wood was exactly what we needed."

The flexibility to customise window and door finishes has been a major advantage across the development, allowing each plot to maintain individuality while still appearing cohesive as a whole.

"Having the choice to vary the colours across the homes really helped us give each one its own identity."

At the time of Mumford & Wood's first site visit, the first four homes were complete and already sold.

"We've had great feedback from the buyers. The windows and doors have been a real talking point, and they love them!"

Since then, the momentum has continued. A further 12 homes have been completed, with the final property now nearing completion.

Flush Casement Windows

All homes in the development are fitted with timber Flush Casement windows, chosen for their timeless design and consistent visual appeal. Colour finishes vary slightly by unit, with hues including 'Straw' and 'Light Ivory', while subtle leaded light detailing adds a layer of classic charm.

Entrance Doors

Every property is fitted with a Tintagel Entrance door from Mumford & Wood. To personalise each home's entrance, variations in door colour and sidelight style were introduced, allowing for individual character while maintaining overall design harmony.

Bi-Fold Doors

Designed to connect interior living spaces with private gardens, Bi-fold doors are a standout feature in many of the homes. In this property, a three-panel set finished in 'Grey White' with a Bright Bronze handle creates a stylish transition from kitchen to garden. Other units feature door finishes tailored to match their corresponding window joinery.
