Exclusive Private Residence Blends into Village of Stock
Set in the charming Essex village of Stock, this exceptional new build family home stands proudly where a dated 1970s property once stood.

We’ve worked with Mumford & Wood on previous projects, and they were ideal for this one too. We needed a premium window solution that offered design flexibility, particularly with colour. The quality of the finished windows and doors is exceptional and suits the home beautifully.

Project Overview
“We acquired the site through a part-exchange deal and saw the opportunity to create something unique,” explains Bill Wright of Silverswan Homes.
With a strong reputation for crafting prestigious homes with character and quality at their core, Silverswan Homes ensured that this project would enhance the local architectural landscape. “We aimed to build something truly individual that blended with the village’s heritage while offering contemporary comfort,” says Bill.
Having used Mumford & Wood products in previous developments, the team returned to the brand for this build. “We were looking for a high-end window solution that also allowed us flexibility with colour selection; Mumford & Wood were the perfect choice.”
The final design features thoughtfully positioned glazing to maximise natural light and frame countryside views. French doors in the master suite open onto a private balcony, offering a peaceful vantage point across rural Essex.
The home’s new owners, Mr and Mrs Tickel, are thrilled with the outcome. “Bill is the kind of builder every buyer hopes for. We purchased off-plan, and he welcomed our involvement when it came to the finish of the windows and doors,” says Mr Tickel.
Flush Casement Windows
To complement the property’s character and tie into the local aesthetic, elegant Flush Casement windows were specified with leaded light detailing, a nod to regional architectural tradition. Finished in a colour matched to Dulux ‘Dark Acorn’ on the exterior and ‘Signal White’ internally, the result is both refined and timeless.
Entrance Door
The home’s entrance is framed by a classic Pomeroy-style door with a glazed sidelight, which continues the leaded glass theme and provides a cohesive, character-rich frontage. The colour finish mirrors that of the windows, offering subtle consistency throughout the design.
Bi-Fold Doors
To the rear, the open-plan kitchen and lounge areas feature timber Bi-fold doors in the same deep exterior colour. These wide-opening doors invite garden views into the home, enhancing the sense of space and making them perfect for both everyday living and entertaining.
