Mr and Mrs Cowan are the proud owners of this beautifully designed new build home in Surrey.

Disused Plot Becomes a Striking New Build Residence
We looked at other suppliers as well to ensure we did our due diligence, but none compared to Mumford & Wood when it came to the quality of the timber structure and stability. “We have been very impressed with the Mumford products and service. A couple of minor issues were rectified very quickly without any quibbles. The service we have received has been very professional, and it has reinforced how impressed we are with Mumford.”

Project Overview

“We actually own the house next door, and this was originally part of that garden,” explains Mr Cowan. “We saw an opportunity to make better use of the land, so we split the plot, keeping some of the garden, and decided to build a separate home on the rest.”

Presented with a blank slate, the Cowans embraced the chance to create something unique. Working closely with their architect, they designed every element of the property to reflect their own style and preferences.

All materials were carefully sourced directly by the couple. When it came to choosing the right windows and doors, Mr Cowan turned to online research. “I knew I wanted engineered timber from the outset, so that was my starting point. That led me to the Mumford & Wood website, where I could browse case studies and previous projects. Seeing the quality of the work helped confirm they were the right choice.”

Entrance Doors

After thoroughly researching potential suppliers and designs, Mr Cowan selected the elegant Bevington Timber Entrance Door, finished in the characterful shade of ‘Grey Blue’. The door is beautifully complemented by classic Chrome details, including a Doctor’s knocker, traditional doorknob, and escutcheon, bringing a refined heritage feel to the front elevation.

Flush Casement Windows

To complement the entrance, the Cowans opted for Timber Flush Casement Windows, finished externally in ‘Grey White’ and internally in ‘Pure White’ to maintain a light, clean aesthetic throughout the interior. The windows feature 18mm astragal glazing bars and are finished with Polished Chrome Teardrop handles for a timeless, elegant look.
